Erica Purnell is a professional career artist from Brooklyn, NY whose work is centered around painting and exploring the endless possibilities of color. 

Drawing inspiration from the vibrant energy and constant movement of New York City, she strives to create a dynamic and engaging visual experience that explores the interplay of color and contrasting elements. With a strong dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques, Erica creates a dialogue between the canvas and the viewer, inviting them to interpret and engross with her work in their own unique way.

She is a visionary who inspires young and old within her community serving as a visual arts teacher and facilitating art therapy sessions. Affectionately known as E, she brings her creative light in her work through her paintings, murals, designs, in-house and virtual art instruction. Erica is an outgoing person who loves art and life while embracing all that comes her way with a positive attitude. 

Erica studied at The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC traversing disciplines of painting, drawing, photography and digital to her main area of expertise in Communications Design. She became widely known under her artistic moniker “Pink Eye”, that she uses to express how people “caught on” to her work by word of mouth. Erica sold clothing and footwear globally featuring her abstract art since 2003. 

Erica's work would later evolve to large scale canvas paintings and murals to convey the stories she wanted to share. Her current goal is using her art to advocate for health and wellness due to a blood cancer diagnosis of Leukemia she has been overcoming since late 2022. 

Erica has been featured in print and online publications for her story and her art. She has also presented work nationally at various galleries and group shows in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston and Philadelphia.
